Five festival films have been selected to premiere nationwide on VOD (Video on Demand). The "Direct from the Sundance Film Festival" initiative offers five diverse films that will be available on the main movies-on-demand channel of most cable providers. That will provide access to 40 million homes in all major U.S. cities.
The featured films, chosen via a partnership between the non-profit Sundance Institute and Sundance Selects, the theatrical and VOD film label, will be available for 30 days on major cable systems including Comcast, Cablevision, Cox and Time Warner.
The films are:
Uncle Kent
A sexy modern comedy about aging, loneliness, desire, and the awkward intimacies of online friendship. Director: Joe Swanberg. Stars: Kent Osborne, Jennifer Prediger, Joe Swanberg, Josephine Decker.
These Amazing Shadows
A look at the artistic, cultural and social milestones in the films chosen for preservation in the Library of Congress. With interviews from filmmakers like Christopher Nolan, Rob Reiner, John Singleton and John Lasseter. Directors: Paul Mariano, Kurt Norton.
Septien
A sports hustler returns home to his backwoods family farm after years of absence and reconnects with his two emotionallydamaged and unhinged brothers. Director: Michael Tully. Stars: Robert Longstreet, Onur Tukel, Michael Tully, Rachel Korine.
Mad Bastards
Using a local aboriginal cast, itexplores the rich storytelling tradition of theculture, with a poetic style that addresses the harsh realities of life as well as familial bonds. Director: Brendan Fletcher. Stars: Dean Daley-Jones, Greg Tait, Lucas Yeeda.
Kaboom
A thriller/comedy about an ambisexual college freshman who uncovers an awful conspiracy in a seemingly idyllic California coastal town. Director: Gregg Araki. Stars: Thomas Dekker, Haley Bennett, Juno Temple, Chris Zylka (Also opening in limited release on Jan. 28).
