Ding-dong, the witch is dead. Thursday's Feb. 24 episode of "The Vampire Diaries" bid adieu to our first warlocks, Dr. Jonas Martin and his son, Luka Martin, affectionately (or not-so-affectionately) known as the ManWitches.
With her powers returned to her, that leaves Bonnie (Katerina Graham) as the last witch in Mystic Falls... but not for long. We'll meet Greta Martin, Luka's sister, when Klaus (Joseph Morgan) comes to town in this season's 19th episode, airing April 21. He's been holding her captive as he tries to find a new way to break the sun and moon curse -- at least, that's what Luka and Dr. Martin believe.
According to "The Vampire Diaries" casting call, Greta is described as in her 20s, "African-American, cool, hip, smart. A bit of a thrill-seeker."
Who are your casting suggestions? "Greek's" Amber Stevens immediately comes to mind -- she's played the sweet, bubbly role of Ashleigh for four seasons. Now that that's come to an end, we'd love to see her sink her teeth into something a little darker. Of course, that's just our wild speculation. We'll keep you guys posted as official casting news comes in.
As it stands right now, Bonnie has a terrifying mission ahead of her. Before he died, Dr. Martin gave her the secret of killing Klaus -- which may be the only way to save Elena (Nina Dobrev). Elena won't be the only one in danger if Klaus' sacrifice goes as planned. The oldest vampire in the history of time also needs a vampire, a werewolf, and yes, a witch to throw into the mix.
We always read the comments that you leave on Zap2it articles, so we've seen that some fans have been dissatisfied with Bonnie's story thus far this season. Luckily, it's looking more and more like our girl is going to get a chance at a big, heroic moment. But is she strong enough to save Mystic Falls from the wrath of Klaus?
Bonnie has overestimated her own abilities before -- like when she tried to get Jeremy out of the tomb to keep him from becoming Katherine's personal blood-fountain. Her grandmother overestimated their strength as well, which turned out to be a fatal flaw. Will Bonnie, with the help of plenty of "energy" from the witches who have died in Mystic Falls in the past, be able to pull off the ultimate save?
