Little Thia Megia was the latest in the line of women to be sent home from "American Idol" Season 10. Find out what she thought about her experience and how hard it was to leave.
Was she surprised that she went home?
"Actually, I really didn't know what to expect at all since there are lot of great singers in this competition. I guess I was feeling a mixture of emotions before getting up on stage. I wanted this so bad but I guess everybody else is just so incredible. You just kind of prepare yourself for whatever happens. I didn't know what to feel, to be honest. I'm happy for Paul, I'm happy for the both of us because I know we're gonna be going on tour. And all the exposure we've gotten from the show has been incredible."
On her schooling, since she is a minor:
"We had school like 3 to 4 hours a day, so I thought that we didn't really get enough rehearsal time, but it was sort of an advantage to us because being minors it was like an escape for all of us, escape from all the stress and just focusing on school room, so there were some disadvantages and some advantages to that. It was cool to actually have that time to bond with the other minors, especially me and Lauren Alaina. It wasn't too bad I guess."
On her favorite part of the competition:
"I enjoyed every bit of the competition. I guess that was what made it really hard to say goodbye last night because you think about every single thing you've experienced on the show. You kind of think to yourself, 'I'm going to miss that so much.' But it's really not the end of the competition. We're gonna see each other in a couple weeks anyway and there's the tour, which is so exciting. I'm going to miss the vocal coaches, they've taught me so much. I've grown so much as an artist and a person."
On the fact four females in a row have gone home:
"We figured that since there are more females watching the show, the votes were going to be more for the guys, ya know? [laughs] It's not only that 'cause the guys are also incredible, but we were a bit worried about that, we were a bit intimidated by all the girls watching the show and knowing that their votes would be going to the guys." [laughs]
On which artists she'd like to work with:
"One of my most favorite musical inspirations would have to be Adele and Jason Mraz. Their lyrics are so beautiful and complex. I also love older music like Billie Holiday and a bunch of old artists. Right now, though, Adele and Jason Mraz would have to be my favorites."
On whether she should've chosen much upbeat songs:
"I do regret not choosing more upbeat songs, but the last performance I did, I don't regret at all. I dedicated that to my brother and I poured all the emotion I had inside of me into that song and I don't regret doing it at all. For the previous weeks, I wish I would've done more upbeat songs because I don't want to come off as just a ballad singer, which I probably did. I just hope America knows I can do so much more ... I actually wanted to sing 'Chasing Pavements' by Adele. I sang it for my audition, but I never actually got to sing a 90-second version on the show. I would have loved, loved, loved to sing that."
"American Idol" airs Wednesday and Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
