The newly recaptured venomous Bronx Zoo cobra is about to become a star. Or rather, an even bigger star.
Animal Planet announced today it will air Snake on the Town, a two-hour documentary to air this spring about the now-famous asp and her whirlwind tour of New York City.
After nearly a week after escaping from its cage, the snake was found alive on Thursday, coiled in a dark Reptile House corner. While the zookeepers claim the snake was in the zoo enclosure all along, folks on Twitter have been following the Egyptian Cobra all over town.
For the past four days, @BronxZoosCobra has tweeted humorous observations from the streets of the Big Apple. She ate a Magnolia Bakery cupcake. She slithered by Tina Fey. She visited Wall Street and made cracks about Sameul L. Jackson.
Now, Animal Planet is promising never-before-seen footage, the cobra's home movies, photography and an exclusive interview with confessionals. Can you hardly wait?
"We're looking for raw, untapped talent," says Marjorie Kaplan, president of Animal Planet and Science Networks, in the release. "We have a triple threat on our hands. @BronxZoosCobra is relatable, audacious and venomous, and you don't turn your back on a snake like that!"
HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!
