{alltv} Christina Aguilera on Her Recent Troubles: "There Have Been Obvious Setbacks"

 

It's been a rough couple of months for Christina Aguilera. She messed up the lines to the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, fell onstage during a performance at the Grammy Awards and jailed for public intoxication.

"In light of the past year, there have been obvious setbacks," the Grammy-winning singer tells Us Magazine. "I've gone through a really hard divorce, and anyone who has gone through a divorce will speak about how hard the journey is from start to finish."

Aguilera, 30, filed for divorce from husband Jordan Bratman in October after five years of marriage. The couple have a three-year-old son together, Max. "It's a life-uprooting time and there have been hiccups along the way that unfortunately the whole world gets to witness and judge," she said.

However, with her divorce now finalized and a new gig as a coach on NBC's upcoming singing competition, The Voice, Aguilera says she's learned how to laugh at the missteps and move on.

"I can laugh about my own hiccups and my own experiences in life because I'm getting through it," Aguilera said. "But I get to share these experiences with these people and I get to say not every performance day is going to be a great day."

Aguilera's personal life has been under public scrutiny for months, but she says fans can expect to see an even more personal side of her on The Voice, where she will serve as one of four coaches.

"I'm actually revealing a lot about myself during this show -- a side of myself that I think a lot of people have never seen before, that only my closest friends see when the cameras go off," Aguilera said. "I just wanted to approach this show very openly. I'm human, too, and people make mistakes and go through things in life and I'm definitely taking that into the show."

The Voice premieres on April 26 on NBC.
