Construction on the supermodel and "America's Next Top Model" host's multimillion-dollar condo pad -- which will combine four merely mortal apartments into a duplex fit for a queen -- has run six months past schedule, according to neighbors. And a full year of "unbearable" drilling, banging and clanging has pushed some residents in the luxury tower to the brink of a model-style meltdown.
Page Six reported last May that noise from inside Banks' apartment, which set the diva back $10 million, grew so loud that neighbors called the cops. But the unholy racket has continued to emanate from the 22nd and 23rd floors for nine additional months, with ear-rattling drilling starting as early as 9 a.m., say residents, who were told that major construction on the lavish lair would be completed by October.
In addition, paint fumes have seeped from Banks' pad into others' abodes, say miffed residents, offending noses as well as ears.
"It's like being on the street where you hear them drilling concrete, but indoors," said one exasperated tenant who heard more drilling this week despite word that work was mercifully wrapping up.
A Riverhouse rep told us that construction is "near completion." And Banks was spotted sashaying into the building on Monday along with a bevy of boxes, according to an onlooker.
Numerous neighbors, meantime, have requested compensation of up to $100,000 for the inconvenience over the past year -- but without success, sources said.
Banks' lawyer and p.r. reps had no comment. But she must be itching to set up house. A source says that penalties pile up on her every day the job runs past schedule.
