Canadian actress Elisha Cuthbert was on a hockey trip with her boyfriend - Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf - when she heard her sitcom Happy Endings had been picked up for a second season.
"I was in Europe, actually, with Dion for the worlds," said Cuthbert, referring to the World Hockey Championship. "So I was actually in Bratislava when I found out. So it was very exciting."
Cuthbert, who was in Toronto on Monday for the Citytv upfront presentation, said she first got word about the pickup from her sister, who had heard about it on Twitter.
"I was holding my breath, because I was like, 'Okay, I don't know if I should really believe this or not,' " Cuthbert said. "But then I made a few phone calls to the producers and sure enough it was accurate. So my sister had the heads up from Twitter."
Interestingly, Cuthbert said she is not personally on Twitter, and does not want to be.
"You know, it's just something that I feel can be dangerous," Cuthbert said. "Once you sort of put yourself out there in that form, there's no going back. That's just a territory I don't want to dive into."
