CBS has not opted to submit Two and a Half Men to compete for the Outstanding Comedy Series trophy at the next Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, Deadline.com reports.
According to a Men insider, the highly publicized Charlie Sheen debacle earlier this year led to the decision to keep the sitcom out of the running, despite being eligible, having produced 16 new episodes last season. Warner Bros., which produces the show, will reportedly show support for nominations of Jon Cryer, Holland Taylor, Angus T. Jones and Conchata Ferrell, in their respective acting categories.
It remains unclear if Sheen will submit himself in this year's Emmy race.
Perhaps the move is most significant in its symbolism: Aside from a few acting and technical wins, Men has never been much of an Emmy magnet. It has never nabbed the Outstanding Comedy Series trophy and has been nominated for it only three times in its eight-season run.
