CALGARY - The High River man accused of stalking a Canadian TV actress does not require a psychiatric assessment to determine his fitness to stand trial.
It is alleged the accused targeted Amber Marshall between June 12 and June 22, going numerous times to the set where the CBC show Heartland is taped near Millarville, southwest of Calgary.
Duty counsel Bob Haslam told court Friday that Jacob Cornelis Glas, 21, was spoken to by a forensic psychiatrist and no further testing is required.
"Dr. (Ken) Hashman did see the accused," Haslam told provincial court Judge Bruce Fraser.
"The doctor has no concerns about whether he is fit, or not," Haslam said.
He was arrested after showing up to the set on Wednesday with a .22-calibre rifle in his vehicle nearby asking to see the actress.

Police do not believe he intended to hurt Marshall but showed up with the firearm so he "would be taken seriously," in his bids to get to her.
According to RCMP Cpl. Allen Busch, the accused said he first saw Marshall when she was in a recent parade.
"She was apparently smiling and waving and he took this (to mean) there was something special between them," he said.
"Since then he was repeatedly going to the Heartland set trying to get in, dropping off notes and stuff."
Marshall is one of Canada's up-and-coming TV stars and plays Amy Fleming on the show portraying life on an Alberta ranch.
Police said they believe the man bought a rifle a few weeks ago.
They also found other weapons including an axe when search his vehicle.
Police said they have been looking for the suspect for a few weeks but only this week got a viable lead, including a vehicle description, to track him down.
He is being held in custody pending a court appearance Friday in Calgary and a psychiatric assessment.
Glas is charged with offences including careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and criminal harassment.
Dressed in Calgary Remand Centre overalls and leg-shackled, he kept his head bowed and did not speak during his brief Calgary court appearance.
Haslam asked that Glas next appear in Okotoks provincial court next Tuesday.
He said the case falls within the jurisdiction of the Okotoks court and was only brought in to Calgary to allow him to be seen by a court psychiatrist.
Haslam said it's hoped Glas will be able to hire a lawyer before his next appearance so he can deal with bail.
