CBS will stage a small "Lost" reunion in the fall when Terry O'Quinn joins fellow Oceanic 815 survivor Daniel Dae Kim on "Hawaii Five-0."
O'Quinn will have a recurring part on the crime drama's second season, a CBS rep confirms to Zap2it. His character, however, will have more of a connection with Alex O'Loughlin's Steve McGarrett than with Kim's Chin Ho Kelly.
He'll be playing a former Navy SEAL commander who trained McGarrett and who also served with Steve's dad in the Vietnam War -- which probably means he'll have some thoughts on the elder McGarrett's murder. (TVLine broke the news of O'Quinn's casting.)
The ongoing mystery involving McGarrett's past was one of the more involving parts of "Five-0's" first season, so we're happy to hear that the show will keep exploring that angle with the addition of O'Quinn. His character, however, doesn't sound like the "new team member" executive producer Peter Lenkov told us about, so we're still awaiting word on that bit of casting.
O'Quinn joins another "Lost" alumnus, Michael Emerson, in the CBS lineup this season; Emerson is starring in the new series "Person of Interest." They're part of a wave of former cast members returning to TV this season: Jorge Garcia (FOX's "Alcatraz"), Rebecca Mader (ABC's "Work It"), Henry Ian Cusick (ABC's "Scandal"), Dylan Minnette (NBC's "Awake") and Nestor Carbonell (The CW's "Ringer") on new series for 2011-12.
