If there's such a thing as reality-show contestants doing it for "the right reasons," host Darren McMullen believes Love in the Wild fits the category.
"Basically the producers were adamant they didn't want people who just wanted to be famous and get drunk and take off their clothes to be on television," McMullen said. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
"So they specifically chose people who had real jobs, and jobs they were going back to," McMullen continued. "That was probably the second prerequisite. The first prerequisite was they had to be looking for love."
Love in the Wild, which debuts Wednesday, June 29 on NBC and CTV, is an adventure-dating series set in the jungles of Costa Rica with 10 single men and 10 single women.
McMullen, who was born in Scotland and moved to Australia when he was a teen, is a well-known TV host Down Under. Asked how he got the job on Love in the Wild, McMullen explained, "I love America and they tend to love people with accents, which is great."
