OK, even we'll admit to being a little bit skeptical about Courtney Stodden's age upon breaking the news last week that the aspiring pop singer had tied the knot with 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchison.
Let's face it. The girl arguably seems pretty mature (in the looks department, at least) for a 16-year-old, something that was certainly not lost on the nearly 900 folks who commented on our original story about the newlyweds.
Well, E! News has just obtained Stodden's birth certificate, and you won't believe what it reveals...
Turns out Stodden is telling the truth!
Yep. According to the document, she was born on Aug. 29, 1994, which, when you do the math, makes her just two months shy of her 17th birthday.
Guess we can now all breathe a little easier knowing that Stodden wasn't lying about her age. Deception, after all, is no way to start off a marriage. That would be weird.
Although, not as weird as this.
