But when he's not breaking news for CNN, where in the world is Anderson Cooper? And why does he look like something out of the movie Swamp Thing?
In a shirtless photo of the anchor covered in mud (recognizable by his perfectly parted hair) posted to his Twitter Monday night, he asks his followers to speculate about his whereabouts.
"I'm off for a few days," Cooper, 44, writes. "From this photo can you guess where in the world I am? Exact location?"
Is he getting down and dirty in Florida's swampy Everglades National Park? Or is he somewhere more exotic, such as the Sudd marshlands in South Sudan, or the hot springs of Binh Chau, Vietnam?
"Not a spa. I don't like spas," he hinted. "Not the dead sea, nowhere near it."
