Disgraced politicians take note: cable news may not be a sure-fire next step after leaving office. On Wednesday (July 6), CNN announced a new fall line-up that does not include Eliot Spitzer's nine-month-old political talk show "In the Arena."
Spitzer's show will be replaced by Anderson Cooper's "AC 360" at 8 p.m. ET. Cooper's show will then re-air in its current 10 p.m. timeslot.
The news network also announced the addition of a new general news program anchored by Erin Burnett (a new hire from CNBC), to air at 7 p.m. and the continuation of Larry King replacement Piers Morgan's "Tonight."
In a statement to the New York Times, Spitzer wrote, "We engaged serious people in conversations about national and global issues in a way that was informative and challenging. I believe that we provided diverse and valuable perspectives during the show's tenure."
Co-host Kathleen Parker left the show in February, after only four months.
