Ruben Studdard has signed with Shanachie Entertainment and will release his next album this fall.
"We believe that for all his success, Ruben Studdard is an undervalued artist," Shanachie general manager Randall Grass says in a press release announcing the signing of the 2003 American Idol winner. "Part of that may be due to his versatility; he has achieved in so many different areas that people just aren't aware of the totality of his talent. We are very excited at the prospect of working with Ruben and his team to take him to the next level of success in this new phase of his career."
Producers Harold Lilly, (Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and Luther Vandross) and Blac Elvis (Ginuwine, Beyoncé, Fergie, Ludacris) are working with Ruben on the album, which has yet to be titled.
"I've been waiting a really long time for my fans to finally hear the real Ruben," the singer says in the release. "This will be the first time that one producer and one writer will be working on my entire album to create one sound. I want my fans to feel like that they have been taken on a musical journey by Ruben Studdard."
Shanachie is an independent label with a roster that includes several veteran R&B and gospel acts, including Patti Austin, Kim Burrell and Mint Condition. Recent Shanachie releases from Calvin Richardson and the Soweto Gospel Choir received nominations for this year's Grammy Awards.
