House has added another dose of estrogen for Season 8.
Charlyne Yi (Knocked Up, Paper Heart) has signed on as a series regular, joining fellow newbie Odette Annable as one of House's new team docs, a show rep confirms. No word yet on her character, but Yi will first appear in the season's second episode, according to TV Line, which first reported the casting.
The two will effectively replace Martha Masters (Amber Tamblyn) and Thirteen (Olivia Wilde, who won't appear in every episode) on the diagnostics team. They are, however, still outnumbered by the boys — Hugh Laurie, Jesse Spencer, Omar Epps, Robert Sean Leonard and Peter Jacobson — in the cast, especially with Lisa Edelstein's departure.
Yi, a stand-up comedian, most recently appeared on Love Bites.
House returns Monday, Oct. 3 at 9/8c.
