Geeks, start your engines! We're still mad at The CW for canceling "Veronica Mars" in the first place, but the network has taken a step toward redemption by casting Jason Dohring (AKA Logan Echolls, the most endearing possible sociopath teenager ever) in "Ringer."
In his recurring role first reported by EW, Dohring will play Mr. Carpenter, a teacher at a Manhattan school attended by Juliet (Zoey Deutsch), the step daughter of Siobhan -- one of Sarah Michelle Gellar's two characters. Word is, Mr. Carpenter takes it upon himself to help Juliet, a troubled (but very privileged) teen whose drug issues land her in some hot water in the first episode.
Basically, this is the next best thing to getting one of Gellar's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" co-stars to cameo. We last saw Dohring as a vampire in "Moonlight," the CBS show that came, unfortunately, just a smidge too early to catch the current vamp craze. Here's hoping that the "Ringer" gig gives him something to sink his teeth into -- it's about time this talented guy landed another strong, nuanced role.
