As cult favorite "Smallville" enters its Season 10 on September 24, longtime fans of the series look forward to a bittersweet ending and, of course, a hopeful new beginning. The CW's official show description teases that the show will be "taking flight" this season as Clark Kent (Tom Welling) "soars toward claiming his birthright."
The season premiere will open immediately after the shocking events of last season's finale. Clark wakes up from his nearly fatal fall to find himself haunted by faces from his past, including his deceased father (John Schneider) and Lionel Luthor (John Glover), the father of Clark's most iconic nemesis.
Season 10 will focus on Clark's struggle to step out of the shadows and his conflict over going public as the iconic Superman. While he battles his internal conflict, he also faces the most dangerous threat "Smallville" has ever introduced, described as "the greatest darkness ever unleashed on Earth."
He'll have Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort), Hawkman (Michael Shanks), and his father by his side, but even with their help, Clark will find himself tempted by doubt and hopelessness as someone from his past attempts to prevent him from reaching his destiny.
Meanwhile, Lois (Erica Durance) will pull away from Clark, perhaps when he needs her most. She thinks she's a distraction for him, and that all the drama that romance brings to Clark's life may keep him from becoming the hero that the world needs him to be.
But can Clark Kent be Superman without Lois Lane?
Don't worry, we haven't forgotten about Chloe (Alison Mack). Ever the unsung hero, Chloe will make a shocking sacrifice to protect the people she loves -- and when she vanishes, Oliver (Justin Hartley) will have to examine his own accountability in his quest to bring her home.
