Draw your knives, culinarily inclined Canucks: Top Chef Canada is heating up.
Starting Monday on Food Network, 16 kitchen whizzes will compete for $100,000, a $30,000 kitchen plus the title of Top Chef on our home and native land's answer to the popular U.S. reality TV series.
As with the American show, the foodies will face quickfire and elimination challenges and be sent each week to see the judges -- head chef Mark McEwan (host of The Heat), restaurateur Shereen Arazm and host Thea Andrews -- until there's only one cook in the kitchen.
Here's a look at who'll be strapping on aprons, along with their cooking approach:
- Clayton Beadle, 26, Whistler, B.C.: Fresh, local and sustainable ingredients.
- Derek Bocking, 30, Montreal: Tapas with a global feel.

- Darryl Crumb, 29, Winnipeg: Comfort food all the way, baby.
- Connie DeSousa, 29, Calgary: Creative and ambitious dishes -- what else from a former ballerina?
- Francois Gagnon, 32, Montreal: French and Italian with a Mediterranean kick.
- Dustin Gallagher, 28, Toronto: Modern farmhouse grub -- whatever that is.
- Steve Gonzalez, 35, Toronto: Classic Latino nosh with modern twists.
- Jamie Hertz, 31, Nelson, B.C.: Soul food, ya dig it?
- Chris Kanka, 34, Toronto: Seafood, meat and anything else that can be butchered and smoked.
- Dale MacKay, 30, Vancouver: Seafood and artsy dishes approved by his former boss, Gordon Ramsay.
- Andrea Nicholson, 28, Toronto: Pizza, pizza! She's a certified Neapolitan pie-maker.
- Rebekah Pearse, 29, Calgary: Desserts and wine ... yum!
- Todd Perrin, 40, Quidi Vidi Village, Nfld.: Anything that, like him, comes straight from the farm.
- Rob Rossi, 27, Toronto: Italian feasts with quality ingredients.
- Michael Stauffer, 30, Dundas, Ont.: You name it -- he's a grad of Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.
- Patrick Wiese, 40, Toronto: Meals fit for Oprah -- whom the Chicago native used to cook for.
