{alltv} 'American Idol': Scotty McCreery's future plans include recording, baseball and junk food

So you won "American Idol." Now what?

For Season 10 champ Scotty McCreery, the answer is simple -- you hit the books. Yes, the 17-year-old may have just won the title of America's new Idol (hey, that rhymed!), but the celebration may have to wait because he has a big test coming up.

After the show, Scotty told reporters, "I gotta finish up my English class. I'm still a kid, I'm still 17. I'm a junior. We'll see. Hopefully I'll pass it!"

So what else does the future have in store for the country crooner? Some TV and junk food. See, he really is just a simple teenager.

When asked what he would be doing in his time off, Scotty joked, "Time off? Did she say time off?" before answering, "I'm just a normal kid. I'll be on the couch watching 'SportsCenter' and eating some chips."

Sticking with the sports theme, Scotty revealed he's hoping to make some time for baseball, as "sports and music have been the two main things" in his life. "Hopefully I can get back out on the mound and throw some pitches," he said with a smile. "See if I got anything left in the cannon."

Kidding (and sports and TV) aside, Scotty is ready to "get cracking" on his first album and will be moving to Nashville. He acknowledged that "Idol" is "the platform" to help jump-start his career, but knows it's now all up to him to find success in the music industry, something recent "Idol" winners have had trouble doing. "I want to get some good songs," he said. "It's all about the songs after this."

No matter what, Scotty said he will always be the same kid who worked at the grocery store in Garner, North Carolina. "I think I've changed as a performer and as a singer. As a person I've stayed the same in my heart. I left Garner as Scotty, I'm going back as Scotty."
