Glee's writing staff is tripling in size just in time for Season 3, Deadline reports.
The six writers joining the team are Allison Adler, Marti Noxon, Michael Hitchcock, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Matt Hodgson and Ross Maxwell. They, along with Glee executive producers Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, will begin crafting the show's third season on Monday.
Glee had originally intended to gradually bring new writers into the mix throughout Season 2. However, Murphy, Falchuk and Brennan ended up writing all 22 episodes.
The new additions behind the scenes arrive just as Glee is looking to add new faces on-screen as well. The show recently posted casting calls for two new female roles, including one described as a cross between Susan Boyle and Adele.
Adler (Chuck, No Ordinary Family) will be a co-executive producer. Comic book writer Aguirre-Sacasa (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, Big Love) will serve as a co-producer. Noxon, whose credits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Grey's Anatomy, will serve as a consulting producer. Hitchcock, who has acted on two episodes of Glee as well as several Christopher Guest films, is a former a MADtv writer and will also be a consulting producer.
Another Glee alum, script coordinator Hodgson, has been promoted to staff writer. Actor Ross Maxwell will also be a staff writer.
Glee will begin principal photography on Season 3 in August.
