There hasn't been much glee in the Glee camp lately, what with creator Ryan Murphy talking about jettisoning the entire cast of "kids" in 2012, and Canadian star Cory Monteith detailing his drug-fuelled years as a troubled teen.
But what do Gleeks do when the going gets rough? They sing and dance, dammit!
The reality-competition series The Glee Project - through which the victor will earn a seven-episode guest-starring arc on the series Glee - makes its Canadian debut with a two-hour episode Sunday, June 26 on Slice.
The Glee Project began airing in the U.S. on the cable network Oxygen a couple of weeks ago with somewhat disappointing ratings results. Nonetheless, sometimes Canadian audiences actually take to these types of things better than American audiences do.
As the 10-episode series begins, 40,000 applicants have been whittled down to 12 contenders. In the reality-TV tradition, there will be eliminations each week.
Glee returns for its third season Sept. 20 on Fox and Global.
