HBO has picked up its third Ricky Gervais series, Life's Too Short, to air in 2012, the cable network announced Wednesday.
Described as a cross between the original version of The Office and Gervais' critically acclaimed Hollywood comedy series Extras, Life's Too Short is a faux documentary following a little person trying to push his way back into the spotlight. The 3-foot-6 actor Warwick Davis — of Willow and Harry Potter fame -- will play a fictionalized version of himself, and Johnny Depp, Steve Carell and Sting will make cameo appearances.
Gervais, 49, and co-creator Stephen Merchant will also appear in the series.
Life's Too Short is Gervais' fourth collaboration with HBO, following Extras, The Ricky Gervais Show and one stand-up special.
All seven episodes of Life's Too Short will first premiere on BBC Two in the U.K. later this year.
